Fresh Pressed Edit / Vol 47
Here's everything we loved for the month of October! This post is too long for email, so make sure to view it on our Substack.
It’s almost November! Has this month felt like it’s flown by to anyone else? There has been a lot that has happened this past month. It’s been very, very busy and a lot going on, but we’re looking forward to spending sometime with family next month!
We’re almost finished planning the “must-haves” for our daughter’s at-home birthday party, even though I think I kind of messed up on the theme a bit. We have the decorations, ordered the food trays (because honestly, it was more cost-effective to do that for the small number of people we’re inviting than it was to cook everything on our own), and now I just need to decide what outfit I’ll put her in, grab some balloons, possibly, and a tablecloth.
I’m a planner, so I think I often overthink and overanalyze things like this, but I’ve been reminding myself that it’s not that serious. Yes, I want to plan a party that is enjoyable for our guests, and the planner in me wants things to go well. However, she won’t remember this birthday party, and it doesn’t need to be themed down to the tee. Now, when she turns three or older, I think the pressure will be on a little more to try to please her because she’ll likely be old enough to say what she wants in terms of parties, Halloween costumes, etc.
We had a trip planned for Newport next month, and then life happened, and we ended up having to cancel it in order to handle some more urgent matters that occurred. We may try again sometime in the next year or so to visit, but we were looking forward to heading back there with our daughter - especially because rates are SO much cheaper in the cooler months than during the summer. However, we know we ultimately made the right decision. If you’re hoping to see Newport, but don’t want to spend a lot, definitely try visiting during the late fall/early winter.
Other than that, I’ve been really into this, this, and this when it comes to holiday decor. It reminds me a lot of growing up in the 90s and holiday decor we’d often see at home or in stores. I also love the idea of making your own holiday decorative items to add to your annual decor that cost very little to make, like paper to make paper chain garlands, or making popcorn garland (maybe when she’s a little older because of the choking risk). I’m thinking of using felt instead of paper to make them reusable each year. Maybe it’s motherhood that has me shifting from the more aesthetic-looking decor when it comes to the holidays to not wanting it to feel warm, fun, colorful, and not so uniform.
Anyway, enough of my rambling, here are some of the things we’ve loved this month.
🍁 The Ultimate Guide to the Perfect Fall Season: Cozy Night In
🍁 Resources for those impacted in PA by the Federal Government Shutdown
🍁 “If I undervalue myself, so will everyone else.” Well-said. I enjoyed reading this interview over on Since Tuesday’s Substack.
🍁 I definitely want to try something like this TikTok canopy bed hack in our bedroom. How cute is this?
🍁 Are All Things Really Possible?
🍁 This looks so good! I may have to make this for my next work lunch.
🍁 Speaking of recipes, this is something else I am considering trying to try to make my lunches more interesting and less monotomous. This one and this one too.
🍁 I love everything about this home.
🍁 Another little shameless plug.
🍁 Ms. Rachel is releasing a new book! Our daughter loves her potty one as we’re in the process of trying to potty train her.
Honestly, with everything currently going on we haven’t been able to find time to read for leisure unfortunately. I have gotten a little further in a parenting book I’ve been reading, but outside of that, we’ve both been unable to read. Maybe next month!
I’m still very much listening to Taylor Swift’s new album, but we’ve also heard a little bit of Hayley Williams’ new album and so far it’s pretty good! I especially love the latest song she recently released titled, “Good Ol’ Days,” as it has a nice soulful feel to it.
📷 1-6: We went leaf peeping because it was peek week in our area. It was such a nice day for a fall walk, too.
📷 7: I completely forgot to include this in our last Fresh Pressed Edit, but here’s a photo from our visit to the Italian Market.
Something about this reminds me of something one of my teachers would wear growing up. This is cute too. It’s giving art teacher.
I’ve been looking at a couple of prints to update our living room gallery wall with. I haven’t decided which ones yet, but this one, this one, this one, this one, and this one have caught my eye recently. I am not sure if I buy them if I will place them all on the same wall though.
I saw this and thought this was so cute! I could see myself wearing this at work around the holidays.
